Yours for a Song was a musical lyric fill-in-the-blank game show that aired on ABC.

Gameplay[]

Two contestants alternated picking songs, and singing their lyrics, each with six words missing. The object was to fill in the correct words to the lyrics to earn money ($20 per word on the primetime version, $10 per word on the daytime version). If the word was incorrect, no money would be awarded and Parks would nicely prod the player until the word was correctly guessed. Whenever a song was finished, the audience would sing along.

Each game featured four songs (two songs for each contestant), and two games were played per show. The contestant with the most money returned for the next game to face a new challenger. If a contestant won five games in a row, he/she would retire undefeated.

Trivia[]

The songs used on the show came from the early twentieth century. These included "Daisy Bell", "Toot Toot Tootsie", and "Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis".

Merchandise[]

A board game was released by the Lowell Toy Manufacturing Corporation in 1961, which featured a song-a-matic selector.
