Trivia Unwrapped was the game show spin-off of the popular Food Network show Unwrapped.

Gameplay[]

Main Game[]

Round 1: Fast Food Round[]

Three contestants would start the game off with 500 points. In this round, a clip from an episode of Unwrapped would be shown to the contestants. Afterwards, Summers read ten toss-up questions based around the information in the video, a la Hit Man’s first round. Each correct answer added 50 points, with no penalty for a wrong answer.

Round 2: Jambalaya Round[]

This round contained different mini-games:

  • All Grown Up
  • Alphabet Soup
  • Cast from the Past – An old commercial was shown, containing a future TV or movie actor/actress in it. The players had to write down who the celebrity was while the ad played (or ten seconds afterwards), and a right answer scored 100 points. Four commercials were shown.
  • Chew on these Clues – Summers would give a clue, then a list of words/phrases were presented to the contestants (similar to Password Plus/Super Password). Finding the connection earned 100 points, but a wrong answer locked out the contestant for the duration of the question. Five questions were played in this game.
  • Food Evolution – A video clip about the process of how a specific food product is made was shown and Summers would read clues about the product. When a player buzzed in, the clip would pause and the player had to identify the food. A correct answer earned 100 points, but a wrong answer locked out the contestant until the next clip. Four clips were shown.
  • Food Fest
  • Mascot Mosaic
  • Meal Time
  • Play with your Food

Round 3: Today's Specials[]

Nine categories (with punny names like on Win Ben Stein's Money and the 1998 version of Match Game) were presented on the game board, each containing three questions (once all three from the category were asked, it was "sold out"). Each right answer scored 200 points, but a wrong answer subtracted 200. Also hidden on the board was a "Blue Plate Special", which, if found, upon a correct answer, would not only give the contestant 200 points, but also a bonus prize. When time was called (signified by a triangle dinner bell), the player with the highest score won the game and proceeded to the "Big Pie Payoff". If two players tied for the lead at the end, or if all three tied, a tie-breaker was asked, with a correct answer winning the game. The winner would then get a choice of two prizes, chosen from the refrigerator or freezer of a 1950s-style refrigerator.

Bonus Round: The Big Pie Payoff[]

The winner spun a pie-shaped wheel, containing three categories and three special bonuses. Whatever the category was that the wheel stopped on, that's what the player was given. He/She would then have to answer ten questions correctly in 60 seconds to win a trip. If the player gives an incorrect answer or passes on a question, they simply move on to the next question. There's a maximum of 12 questions per category and if all 12 are asked, the player would then go back to any of the missed or passed questions if time permitted.

In the case of the special bonuses, they were:

  • Choose a Category – As its title says, the player could choose any of the three categories.
  • Lucky 8 – Only eight questions had to be answered correctly in 60 seconds instead of ten.
  • Who Wants Seconds? – Ten questions had to be answered correctly in 70 seconds instead of 60.

In either case, if the player ran out of time, then he/she would receive $100 for each correct answer.
