Top Chef: Just Desserts was a second, short-lived two-seasoned only spinoff of Top Chef featuring pastry chefs competing in a series of culinary challenges, focusing on pastries and desserts.
In every episode, there are two challenges which are a "Quickie Challenge" and a "Elimination Challenge". The Quickie Challenge is a short challenge that tests each contestant's fundamental skills while the Elimination Challenge is usually more difficult and tests the chefs' creativity and adaptability in using specific ingredients or fulfilling a certain critic's needs. The fourteen chefs would be whittled down week by week as they compete to out-bake the competition. In the end, the winning chef will receive a $100,000 furnished by Kitchen Aid, a feature in Food & Wine magazine and a showcase at the annual Food & Wine Cayman Cookout.
- Host Gail Simmons is not only a host for this version but she is also a judge on the original Top Chef and its spinoffs Top Chef Masters and Top Chef Duels respectively. In addition, she was also a guest judge on the Canadian version called Top Chef Canada in 2011.
