Wild West Showdown was a Western-themed game show that featured three contestants as "cowboys" in the Old West competing for cash prizes.

Gameplay[]

Set in the fictitious western town of Broken Neck, the cowboys competed in six events. The first three events were worth $100 each, and the last three were worth $200 each. Some episodes had only five events: the first two worth $100, the next two for $150, and the last one for $200.

The player with the most money advanced to the "Final Showdown" for a possible $5,000.

List of Events[]

  • Rawhide – A cowboy was dragged behind an outlaw horse and attempted to reach a release rope to break away in the fastest time.
  • Stagecoach – The cowboys rode a galloping horse, trying to catch up with a runaway stagecoach, mount it, and stop it.
  • Saloon Brawl – A player had 45 seconds to pull an outlaw out of the saloon in a one-on-one tug of war, played somewhat similar to the "Conquer" portion of Breakthrough & Conquer from American Gladiators. If time ran out, the bartender would fire his rifle and ask the cowboy to leave the bar.
  • Water Tower – Similar to the "Wall" event from American Gladiators, the cowboys would have 45 seconds to scale a water tower and defuse a bomb at the top of the tower while being chased by an outlaw. The cowboys and the outlaws would begin on opposite sides of the tower.
  • Ambush – Similar to the "Assault" event from American Gladiators, this event saw players run about the town while dodging enemy fire from up to four or five outlaws. Cowboys were rewarded cash for each outlaw hit and could get a bonus from hitting every outlaw. Getting hit once by an outlaw ended the event.
  • Log Jam - Similar to the "Breakthrough" portion of Breakthrough & Conquer from American Gladiators, the cowboys would have to cross a river full of logs within 45 seconds while being chased by an outlaw, starting on opposite sides of the river.
  • Pony Express - The cowboys would compete in a race through town on their horses, picking up bags of cash along the way. The one who crosses the finish line first would win.

Final Showdown[]

The "Final Showdown" bonus round was a run through the town, climbing over buildings to reach a bag of cash to get to a horse, and to make a getaway through the town within a two-minute time limit without getting hit by outlaws shooting "paint ball bullets" at them.

If they succeeded, the player won the $5,000. On some episodes, if a player survived but took more than two minutes to complete all tasks, he or she still won a $1,000 bonus.
