Jay Stewart (born Jay Fix on September 6, 1918, in Summitville, IN; died September 17, 1989, in Los Angeles, CA) was an American television and radio announcer known primarily for his work on game shows. One of his longest-lasting roles was as the announcer on the game show Let's Make a Deal, which he announced throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He also announced shows for Reg Grundy Productions & Barry & Enright Productions. In his long career, Jay did host one game show; it was a local one called By the Numbers. After the death of his daughter, his life took a turn for the worse and couldn't continue his work as game show announcer. Stewart committed suicide on September 17, 1989, by shooting himself after he was deeply depressed by his daughter's suicide and did alcohol.
