Alan Thicke (born Alan Willis Jeffery; March 1, 1947; died December 13, 2016) was a Canadian actor, songwriter, and game and talk show host. He was best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver, the patriarch on the ABC television series Growing Pains.

Not only has he hosted several game shows in his career, but he also composed the music for many of them, too. Alan’s brother, Todd Thicke, composed the music for the 1986 revival of Split Second.

Personal Life[]

Alan was married several times. One notable marraige was to Days of our Lives star & singer Gloria Loring who also did music with Alan for sitcoms Diff'rent Strokes & The Facts of Life. Alan sang the theme to Strokes while Gloria sang the theme to Facts.

Alan was also the real-life father of former voice actor Brennan Thicke & singer Robin Thicke.

Death[]

On December 13, 2016, Thicke suffered a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter and subsequently died from Type-A aortic dissection at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California at the age of 69; three months shy of his 70th birthday.
