Ewa Laurance (born Ewa Swenson on February 26, 1964 in Gavle, Sweden) is professional pool player under the nickname of Striking Viking. She's been playing pool since she was 14 years old in her native land of Gavle, Sweden. She started living in the USA in 1983 because of her appearance at the New York City World Championships. She wrote three books, The Ewa Mataya Pool Guide, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Pool and Billiards, & Quick Start Guide to Pocket Billiards. She also wrote monthly columns for Pool & Billiard Magazine. In 2004 she was inducted to the BCA Hall of Fame.
When not playing pool, she also plays golf. Ewa has appeared in many celebrity golf charity tournaments over the years.
Ewa was also a model, for she starred in TV commercials for No Nonsense Pantyhose.
She was once married to male professional pool player Jimmy Mataya at 17 in 1982. They had one child born in 1985 between them but they got divorced afterwards. Today she's currently married to actor Mitch Laurance, brother of actor Matthew Laurance. They've been married since 1994. Plus they did pool commentaries for ESPN together.
Also in terms of TV, she hosted GSN's Ballbreakers and ESPN's Ultimate Pool Party.
