David Martin Ruprecht, born October 14, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri, is an American actor and writer primarily known for his work as host of the Lifetime/PAX game show, Supermarket Sweep. He has hosted the live stage show version of The Price is Right at casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Mississippi and Connecticut. He has also hosted Family Feud Live. He currently is one of the hosts of The Price Is Right Live Stage Show at Bally's Las Vegas. He works alongside Todd Newton and they have both worked alongside announcer Randy West.

Ruprecht has guest-starred on over 50 television shows from Three's Company, on which his character married Joyce DeWitt in the series finale, to HBO's True Blood. From 1990 to 1992, he played Dan Ryan on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives. He co-starred in the Broadway and Showtime productions of Perfectly Frank and did voice-over work for the 1985 animated series 'Yogi's Treasure Hunt.

Personal life

Ruprecht was born in St. Louis, Missouri to a Lutheran minister.[1] He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Downsize DC Foundation and is a member of the Libertarian Party. Ruprecht is a former Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of California.

He is a long-time member of Rotary International. He is married to choreographer Patti Colombo.

He is currently a practicing member of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.[2]

Before donning a collared shirt and tie for his 1993-2003 run on Supermarket Sweep, David Ruprecht was known in 1990-1993 for his eclectic collection of sweaters. His sweater collection became an iconic part of Supermarket Sweep history, and he was one of the last remaining gameshow hosts to wear decorated sweaters as part of his every day attire.
